There are 2 ways to learn NLP:
1. The Hard & Expensive Way
I took this route between 1999 and 2003. Here’s what I paid:
- NLP Practitioner (12 days course) – $4,500 (tuition) + $1,400 (flights, hotel) = $5,900
- NLP Master-Practitioner (14 days course) – $12,500 (tuition) + $2,800 (flights, hotel) = $15,300
- NLP Trainer’s Training (12 days course) – $6,500 (tuition) + $2,200 (flights, hotel) = $8,700
Total: $29,900
I also went to many conferences, weekend seminars, practice groups and so forth. I don’t count these smaller expenses since they were considered ‘elective’. The truth is, as I discovered only later, everything in learning NLP is elective. You do not need a certificate to learn, master or even teach and practice Neuro Linguistic Programming.
On my Hypnotherapy training, in contrast to the above, I only paid $4,500 for a 2 years intensive program (HMI college).
2. The LIY & Probably Smarter Way
Back in 1999 I was not aware of the facts. If I were, rest assure, I would have done it the LIY way. I learned my expensive lesson, though, and I hope you will learn from my experience to choose the right way for you.
LIY = Learn It Yourself
10 days are not enough to train a person in such a vast and complex field. It took me 2 years and a 6 months supervised internship to be qualified to take a license exam in Hypnotherapy. It took a hefty cashier’s cheque to become ‘certified’ in NLP.
